Prepare for your surgical procedure

Expect to be very groggy after your breast enhancement surgery. You will need to be monitored and cannot stay alone for the first 24 hours. We follow your plastic surgeon’s post-op instructions carefully to help you have the best breast augmentation recovery possible.  We follow your surgeon’s medication instructions carefully and have arranged 24-hour access to a pharmacy if you need additional medications perscribed by your surgeon. We also offer leg pumps to minimize the risk of blood clots in your legs and lungs which are a rare but serious complication following any surgery.

If you are like most women, you went to great lengths to find the perfect plastic surgeon  and spent much time choosing the perfect implant size, shape & type (silicone breast implants vs. saline breast implants).  Don’t overlook an equally important decision regarding your cosmetic surgery recovery! Surprisingly, many cosmetic surgery patients fail to realize the significance of planning for Breast Augmentation Aftercare until after their breast enhancment surgery. Around-the-clock pampering limits your activity and many surgeons feel it decreases the postoperative risk of seromas, hematomas and implant repositioning.  In addition, you will be very sore after surgery despite pain medication and will need help with getting comfortable. Your arms will likely be too sore and weak to prop yourself up. As our guest, rest assured we will help make you as comfortable as possible at all times.

We realize that because of arm discomfort and prescription pain medication you will not be able to drive for several days following surgery. While our guest, we are equipped to handle all your transportation needs including all postoperative check-ups.

You owe it to yourself to enjoy a few days of continuous pampering in a beautiful and relaxing  getaway retreat so that you optimally heal and get back to your daily routine quickly, refreshed and ready to enjoy your new look!

Your procedure will be done under general anesthetic in the operating room. When you wake from surgery you will be groggy and your chest will feel very sore. You will not be able to lift much for the first few days and your surgeon will give you specific postoperative instructions on gradually building your activity level. Your postoperative instructions will likely change depending on whether breast augmentation (breast implants) was preformed in conjunction with your lift. In general, women who have breast implants placed under the muscle are significantly more sore than women having only a breast lift (mastopexy). Either way, you should expect to be significantly swollen, bruised and uncomfortable for several days. You will not be able to stay alone for at least the first 24 hours after anesthesia. Prescription pain medication, in addition to chest and upper arm soreness inhibiting your range of motion, make you unable to drive for several days following your procedure.

While recovering you can rest assured that we will take care of all your recovery needs and make you as comfortable as possible. On arrival to the hotel, we will be waiting to whisk you off via a discrete elevator to a discrete wing of the hotel. Once there, we will escort you to your luxurious accommodations to begin your recovery retreat.

We prepare your room with the greatest of care prior to your arrival. Your bed with numerous soft & fluffy pillows will be turned down and the lights will be dimmed. We will also adjust the climate to your preference and after tucking you in we will serve your choice of beverage and snack. We will then let you rest, checking on you periodically, with you knowing that we can be available to assist you. Your smooth recovery is our goal and we will cater your recovery to your individual postoperative instructions so that you are back to your daily routine and enjoying your new look before you know it! Liposuction Recovery Package is specially designed to meet all your needs immediately following your procedure. The extent of your procedure will likely determine the length and level of care you require after surgery. Most patients experience significant swelling, bruising, and discomfort after liposuction. Regardless of whether you have the procedure in an office or in an OR you will need to arrange for at least 24 hours of care. After liposuction, you will have a compression garment or elastic bandages placed over the surgical sites. In addition there will be oozing from the incision sites for several days to a week.  You will likely need dressing changes, at regular intervals, over these sites until the leaking subsides. Elastic wrap compliance and compression garments is critical to your recovery time for optimal results.

Soul pleasure will arrange all of your transportation after surgery to our facility and to all your postoperative follow-up appointments during your stay. We will also make sure that you take your pain medication and any antibiotics that your surgeon may have prescribed.

Your medication will likely make you groggy, but to reduce blood clot risks, your surgeon will likely want you up and walking the day after surgery. We will assist you in gaining your activity level back while not allowing you to over do it!  We will assist you in every way to make your recovery as smooth as possible. It was a big decision to have surgery and chances are you spent significant time finding your perfect surgeon.  We will cater your recovery to your individual plastic surgeon’s very specific postoperative instructions to help you optimize your results and get you on your way to a smooth recovery.

Discomfort, swelling and bruising after your abdominoplasty surgery is normal. You may also have drains that need to be emptied regularly. It will be difficult to get around for the first week or two following surgery due to abdominal pain.  You will not be able to do any housework, take care of the kids or drive because you will be quite sore and on pain medication!  Do not over-do-it in this first week, you might actually prolong your recovery by putting too much stress and strain on your body!  This also increases your chance of having a post-op complication, so you need to get several days of rest.

You will need a significant amount of assistance walking to the bathroom, getting in & out of bed, getting meals and taking your pain medication and antibiotics!   You will also be groggy from anesthesia and pain medication for the first few days and unable to drive for at least a week. Your Dallas / Forth Worth plastic surgeon may place an abdominal binder on you after your surgery, and may recommend that you be positioned at a particular angle after your tummy tuck surgery so that you do not put too much tension on your incision. Decreasing skin tension enhances your comfort level and decreases stress on your body. In addition, decreasing skin tension has been clinically shown to result in less noticeable scars.

Abdominoplasty, although usually an outpatient procedure, will limit your activity for the first few days after surgery and you will quickly realize the importance of aftercare assistance! Seemingly simple tasks will be challenging for the first few days following your procedure. Great care is taken when preparing for your arrival. On entering your room, lights will be dimmed, soft relaxing music will be in the background and your bed will be turned down. We will gently help you into bed and position you with large fluffy pillows at just the right angle per your postoperative instructions. We will adjust the room’s tempature to your preference and serve you a beverage of your choice and anything else you need. We will then leave you to rest in the privacy of your own room. You will have a call button so that at any time we can be at your bedside to assist you.

Depending on the surgery that you undergo you will have different recovery needs. Count on needing extensive recovery care for several days or even weeks. The first week will be difficult and the most demanding part of your recovery, do not plan on being back to your normal routine for at least several weeks!

Body contouring can be a very extensive surgery and you will be heavily reliant on your recovery nurses. Depending on the extensiveness of your surgery you may decide to stay in the hospital 24 hours after surgery to receive pain medication and then stay with Soul Pleasure Recovery House for the remainder of your recovery. The decision will be up to you and your physician depending on the extent of your procedure and the level of care you need.

How to feed the body after Surgery

By. Miera Magee (Chef MIMI)

Eating a healthy diet is an important part of successful post-surgery recovery for two reasons.

  1. Healthy foods, including lean protein, foods containing good fats, fruit, and vegetables provides the body with the substances needed for cell renewal and regeneration for basis healing process.
  2. It’s important to maintain a steady, healthy weight following a surgery. Adopting healthy habits will enjoy optimal results from the procedure in the long term.

I recommend healthy foods that do your body good and provide the nutrition needed for fast healing. The type of foods that are usually good choices following a surgical procedure include:

  •     Fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables.
  •     Lean protein, poultry, oily fish, tofu, pulses, and beans.
  •     Good fats – these are found in foods such as avocados, salmon, coconut oil, olive oil, and eggs.

Avoid highly processed junk food, food high in fat and/or sugar, and foods that have low nutritional content. If you eat dairy, then milk and cheese in moderation are good choices!

Make sure to drink plenty of water!
